What My Ex-Boyfriend #5 Taught Me: A Series of Bright Sides

http://www.sxc.hu/photo/1382105

My Ex-Boyfriend #5 taught me:

To peek outside my little world.

We met traveling. We were from different scenes, with different interests, and completely different lifestyles. To me, he was exotic. To him, I was the exotic one.

Thank you Ex-Boyfriend #5, for reminding me that although the world is big, human connections makes it feel cozy and small.

From Manduka to Match: A Yoga Workshop for the Single Girl

Yoga for the Single Girl!

Saturday June 30th, 4:00pm. It’s happening. And I’m just giddy with excitement!!! I’m combining two of my most favorite things in the world–Yoga and my Single Girls–to create a yoga workshop designed specifically for YOU.

But I can’t do it without you. So I humbly ask for your help to make this workshop the most honest, nourishing, enlightening, and over-the-top-fun it can possibly be.

What to I want you to do? Comment, of course!

What are your biggest dating questions? How does your yoga practice affect your dating “practice”? If your love life were a yoga pose, what would it be?  What do you desperately need to know about dating, and being single?

This is an extraordinary opportunity to share your questions and get answers, not just from me, but from some of the wisest, sexiest, most fantabulous women in attendance. Email daniella@theinsidevoice.net or post in the comments section.

Want more info? Here it is...

You’re a Single Girl.

You’re meeting new people. You flirt with cuties on the street. You pour through online profiles, and accept blind dates because your aunt’s accountant has a Nice Son. You’re upbeat and you’re hopeful. And you’re working harder than any of your married friends realize, or care to remember.

Let’s face it, Single Girl—you could use a little R&R.

In this workshop, we’ll create a super-duper safe space to do just that—rest, reflect and reboot. We’ll trade stories—love and horror, alike. We’ll deal with all the sticky, sexy, and truly baffling parts of dating. And we’ll use the tools of yoga to lead you, Single Girl, toward happiness.

We’ll answer questions like:

Friday night yoga class or first date—what wins out?

How do I stay confident after a break up?

Can yoga make me a better dater?

Is it weird to do yoga on a third date?

Where in the world do I meet someone, anyway?

What you’ll get:

1) Practical take-home asana and meditation techniques, designed specifically for YOU, Single Girl. They will help you to build stamina, strength and self-confidence through the euphoric highs and sudden lows of dating.

2) Your Tribe, a circle of Single Girls that you trust with your heart. Think of it like having all your best girlfriends on speed dial, all the time, forever.

3) A new perspective on your own love life. Some of the “worst date ever” stories won’t be yours. ‘Nuff said.

Who it’s for:

Single Girls—any age, any life stage, in any situation—who love yoga.

Who it’s NOT for:

Marrieds. Men. Of course we love our married friends, and we sure do love men. But this is just for us Single Girls.

How can I be sure it’s right for me?

If you’ve ever…

…Come to class on Sunday morning, all rosy-cheeked and giddy, still wearing your party dress from last night’s epic first date…

OR

…Met your best friend for a yoga date/photo shoot, to capture a glamorous, yet yoga-glowy pic for your online dating profile…

OR

…Rolled out your mat, nursing a break up hangover, and aching for some comfort and quiet time…

YES, this workshop is right for you!

Schedule: 2 hours plus drinks

Open circle

Asana

Meditation

Journaling—want list/intention list

Shavasana

DRINKS!

What My Ex-Boxfriend #4 Taught Me: A Series of Bright Sides

My Ex-boyfriend #4 taught me:

How to rock Vivienne Westwood.

The man knew his way around SEX at 430 King’s Road. He introduced me to pirate boots, oversized bustles, and you know, The Sex Pistols. These are important life skills. Thanks Ex-Boyfriend #4!

All For You

It’s all for you, my sweet reader. Everything I write, every dating tip I give, and every personal story I share, it’s for you. I want to meet you, move you, and change your day, maybe just a little.

And I’m looking directly at adorable you when I say I’m sorry for The Inside Voice silence over the past week. Don’t think it’s gone unnoticed. I’ve been working away on some really exciting things for you, and getting them all shiny and sparkly for their proper presentation. I’m telling ya, I can’t wait to share…SOON!

To prove it, here’s a pic of me sitting at the desk hard at work, producing gems.

But for now, hold tight. Keep reading and share with your friends. And for the love of god, tell me what you love, and don’t love, and what you’d like to hear more of. Because you and I, we’re just getting started.

Love,
Daniella

7 Clues That Your Date is Head-Over-Heels-In-Smit with You.

Picture this:
You’re on a date, and everything seems to be going swell. You look gorgeous, your date is handsome, and the conversation is moving right along. But how do you really know if your date is head over heels in smit with you?
Here’s how to find out:
  1. If you arrive 5 minutes early, and he’s already waiting at the bar…
  2. If he happily told you about his 3-year-old niece’s birthday party, at which he was a clown…
  3. If he is awkward and nervous when moving in for the kiss…
  4. If he holds your hand under the table…
  5. If he immediately sits next to you in the booth, instead of across…
  6. If he brings over your cocktail and automatically orders a glass of water with it…
  7. If he remembers what you wore the first time he saw you…

He’s Head-Over-Heels-In-Smit with you!!!

What My Ex-Boyfriend Taught Me: A Series Of Bright Sides.

http://www.sxc.hu/photo/903839

My Ex-Boyfriend #2 taught me:

I’m not fragile.

I am stronger than I think. I can take full responsibility for my actions and my emotions. I can trust myself to know when the relationship feels good and nourishing. And recognize when it starts to zap my energy. I’m not afraid to leave, but I’m also not afraid to enjoy it while it lasts!

Gotta Go! http://www.sxc.hu/photo/1202718

My Ex-Boyfriend #1 taught me:

It’s OK to get up and leave.

It’s OK to leave quickly, abruptly, and dramatically. Even on the third date, on Saturday night at 1:00am while sitting on the couch, watching the credits roll on a foreign film. Even when you’d been saying “yes” every step of the way, it’s OK to change your mind. And say NO.

It’s OK. Because when the voice inside your head says “Gotta Go,” you gotta go. No questions asked. No excuses necessary.

7 Magic Ways to De-Stress Before A Date

Date night! Excited? Yup! Stressed? Well, maybe just a little.

Dates can be stressful. You’re meeting someone new. Even the most outgoing lady can get a touch of stage fright on first dates. There’s no script. And you could spill your drink. You could splatter spaghetti sauce on your white pants. The conversation could stop dead in it’s tracks.

Oh yes, it’s date night. And the only thing to do is acknowledge it fully, prepare as best as you can, and treat yourself well. Here’s how:

7 Magic Ways to De-Stress Before A Date

1. Eat a fabulous lunch, with dessert.

2. Stop by the make-up counter, and test drive a new mascara. Practice batting your eyelashes in the mirror.

3. Review your social calendar for the next few days. Remind yourself that you are loved, and wildly popular.

4. Resist the urge to call your mom. Instead, in the comfort of your own home, say out-loud what you’d say to your mom. Hear your own voice in the air.

5. Turn on the radio. Dance wildly, all Fly Girls style, to the next song you hear. You should be gasping for air by the time the song is done.

6. Get a manicure. And spring for the 10 minute back massage. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to get the kinks out of your shoulders.

7. Smile a lot. You’re gonna have fun!
